Disney Therapy
They’re vermin, as I said
And worse, they’re savages! Savages!

”Is this bottomless pit a friend of yours?”

I held on to this moment from my childhood, long into adulthood. This scene is one of the rare moments in Disney film history when the lovers do not live happily ever after, and the poignancy of this scene always moves a chord within me. Every time I watch this scene, I remember the bittersweet sensation that filled me when watching this film as a girl, and realize how often saying goodbye has been the reality superseding the dream of ever after.

Pocahontas (1995)

You think the only people who are people, are the people who look and think like you. But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger, you’ll learn things you never knew, you never knew. Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon? Or asked the grinning bobcat why he grinned? Can you sing with all the voices of the mountain? Can you paint with all the colours of the wind?
